Lewiston, MN Leland "Lee" C. Rain, 73, of Lewiston, MN, died Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse, WI. Lee was born June 19, 1935 in Lanesboro, MN to Chester and Lillian (Gudmundson) Rain. He served in the United States Air Force from 1952-1956 in Japan during the Korean War. He married in 1957 and they were later divorced. He then married Joyce Glenna and were later divorced. He was a truck driver for many different companies and was an owner/operator for his own trucking company. He was also a Deputy/Sheriff for Winona County for 9 years, was past Mayor of Lewiston, owned and managed Lee's Fireside Inn in Rollingstone from 1984 to 1993, and was former Post Commander of Winona VFW. He married Sharon Barnowitz and they were later divorced. When he lived in California, he managed the Larson Boat Co. and owned a gas station. He was a proud member of the VFW and the Winona Hog Chapter. He enjoyed driving motorcycles, especially his Harley, did a lot of mechanical work and raced stock cars. He will be dearly missed. He is survived by his four children, Mike(Debbie) Rain of Minnesota City; Sue (Rod) Jonsgaard of Minnesota City; Kathy (Kim) Bartelson of Winona, MN; and Lee (Deena) Rain of Utica, MN, 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Willard (Barbara) Rain of Yucatan, MN and David (Diane) Rain; and many nieces and nephews. Lee is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Carol and Barbara. The Funeral Service for Lee will be held at 11:00am on Monday, May 11, 2009 at Hoff Funeral Home, Lewiston Chapel with Funeral Celebrant Douglas Hansen. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Utica, MN. A reception will take place at Playoff's Bar in Altura, MN following the committal service at the cemetery on Monday. Friends may call from 4-8pm on Sunday, May 10, 2009 at Hoff Funeral Home, Lewiston Chapel and also one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday.
