St. Charles, Lee Jesse Ploetz, 71, of St. Charles died Tuesday evening, October 25th at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. Lee was born December 1, 1933 in Winona to Jesse and Beatrice (Heim) Ploetz. He graduated from St. Charles High School in 1951 and served in the Army during the Korean War. Lee and Marlene Sanden were married February 24, 1962 at North Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Lanesboro. He farmed near Utica most of his life, moving in to St. Charles in 2004. Lee also owned the Lewiston Livestock Market and Ploetz Trucking. He served as a St. Charles Township Supervisor, Hillside Cemetery Board Trustee and was a member of St. Charles American Legion Post #190. Lee enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Marlene, two daughters, Susan Van Riper (Elyse Holte) of Barnum and Sandra (Andrew) Diercks of Utica, four grandchildren; Kaitlin Anderson, Kobey, Korrigan and Kaden Diercks, a brother Francis (Greta) Ploetz of Utica and a sister Jeanne (Leland) Ferden of St. Charles. His parents and a son Robert preceded him in death. Funeral services will be 11AM Friday at Faith Lutheran Church in St. Charles with the Rev. Dr. Mark Wilms officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Thursday at Hoff Funeral Home's ? St. Charles Chapel. They may also call one hour before services at the church.
