Lawrence Allen Tucker was born June 16th, 1942 to Glen & Loretta (Lonergan) Tucker in Austin, Minnesota. He grew up in Dexter, Minnesota and graduated from Elkton High School in 1961. He graduated from the Austin Vocational School in 1963 where he trained to be a carpenter.
In December 1963 he began his service to his country in the US Navy as a Seabee. He served in active duty in Viet Nam, Guam and Midway Island until 1966, then was active in the Naval Reserves from 1979 to 1981, honorably discharging as an E-6. His service to veterans continued as a life time member of the Giese/Kelsey VFW Post 6913, serving as Commander of that post from 2014 to 2017, and as a member of the American Legion Post 197 in Chatfield.
On October 16th, 1981 he married Donna Tucker in LaCrosse, WI. They enjoyed 35 years of marriage, residing in Chatfield, MN.
He worked as a carpenter for the State of Minnesota for 38 years at RCTC and the university system in Rochester, retiring in 2011. Larry was an active member and trustee of the AFSCME Union for many years.
Lawrence Allen Tucker passed peacefully at his home on August 6th, 2017 following a vigilant 4-year battle with cancer. He will be laid to rest at the Veteran's Cemetery in Preston, MN.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Jolyn "Mimi" (Bill) Seamens and Susan (Dan) Hollermann of Chatfield; four grandchildren, William Sieminski of Madison, WI, Jacob (Rachael) Sieminski of Milwaukee, WI, Dr. Hannah (Trevor) Cyphers of Woodbury, MN, Isaac Hollermann of Jamestown, ND; two great-grand children, Eleanor and Amelia Sieminski of Milwaukee, WI; siblings Harold (Patricia) Tucker of Indianapolis, IN, Marilyn Tucker and Raymond Tucker of Dexter, MN, and many beloved nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ruth Ann Medina of Minneapolis, MN, and brother in law Dr. Ambrose Medina.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, August 9th at the St. Marys Catholic Church in Chatfield, Minnesota. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 8th, 2017 at Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield, MN and one hour at the church before the service on Wednesday.
