LaVonne Feuerhelm

LaVonne Fern Feuerhelm (Ender), aged 92, passed away on August 23, 2024, in St. Charles, Minnesota. Born on June 19, 1932, the first child of Leonard and Ruth Ender. She grew up in the small town of Hokah, Minnesota and attended grade school there before going on to graduate from Houston High School in 1950. She worked in the office at Trane Company in LaCrosse for 5 years. She married Raymond Feuerhelm in 1955 and soon left office work to raise their family of five children, as caring for family was a priority. The family moved to St. Charles in 1967 when Ray purchased the IGA store there. LaVonne helped in the store for eight years and then went home to pursue her own interests. She learned to paint watercolors, do Rosemaling with oils, and continued sewing, making custom draperies, quilts, and clothes for the family. She held offices on the Library Board, Piecemaker Quilters, RootRiver Artists, St. Ann’s Society, Senior Citizens, and supervised the church mission sewing group which gave over 500 quilts to the missions, Dorothy Day House, Ronald McDonald House, Birthright, and Women’s Shelter. 

LaVonne is survived by her children, Greg (Patti) Feuerhelm, Mark Feuerhelm, Matt (Lori) Feuerhelm, Kathy (Phil) Phillips, and Steve Feuerhelm; her grandchildren, Jeff (Christa) Feuerhelm, Kristin (Mitch) Wenum, Britta (Seth) Forney, and Lydia (Bill) Chiu; her great-grandchildren, Henry Feuerhelm, Anna Feuerhelm, Eva Wenum, Cora Wenum, Josephine Forney, and Lillian LaVonne Forney; and a brother-in-law Eugene (Rosemary) Feuerhelm. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Feuerhelm; her parents, Leonard and Ruth Ender; and her brother, Donald Ender.

The family asks that any memorials for LaVonne be directed to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, or Home and Community Options in Winona, Minnesota. The Funeral Mass will be 11:00 am, Thursday, August 29, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with visitation 2 hours before.
