Laurie E. Braun, 63, of St. Charles died with her husband Robert Braun, on Sunday, July 3, 2005, at their home, due to a house fire. Laurie was born on October 4, 1941, in Forrest City, Iowa to Wayne and Charlotte (Beecher) Stephens. She was raised in Chatfield and graduated from Chatfield High School in 1959. Laurie was married and later divorced. She graduated from Itasca Community College in Grand Rapids, Minn. with an LPN degree in 1979. On September 26, 1986, she married Robert Braun in Rochester, Minn. Laurie worked as a Nurse in Deer River, Minn. and at the Whitewater Health Care Center in St. Charles. She worked at Bauer's Hardware Hank for many years also in St. Charles. Laurie loved town festivals, parades, marching bands, county fairs and took great pleasure in the simple things in life. She is survived by two sons: Gary (Kim) Olson of Eyota, Minn. and Allen (Kendra) Smith of Grand Rapids, Minn.; three daughters: Kay (Jeff) Fishbaugher of St. Charles, Minn., Patty Goor of Oronoco, Minn. and Chris Stephens of Eyota, Minn.; 13 grandchildren; three brothers: Dennis (Ruth) Stephens of Circle Pines, Minn., Martin (Linda) Stephens of Rochester, Minn. and Stuart Stephens of Minneapolis, Minn.; two sisters: Karen Long of Fillmore, Minn. and Martha (Gary) Morin of Jacobson, Minn. She was preceded in death by her Parents, one son and one granddaughter. There will be a Memorial Mass for Laurie and her husband Robert at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in St. Charles with the Rev. James Callahan and the Rev. Sharon Johnson officiating. Burial of her cremated body will be at a later date. Friends may call from noon until the time of services on Wednesday at the church. Hoff Funeral Homes - St. Charles Chapel is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
