Larry Ted Schmidt, 71, of rural Rushford, MN died on Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at his home sitting at the kitchen table, playing solitaire and listening to the bluegrass music that he loved.
Larry was born on April 15, 1945, in Vancouver, Washington to Theron "Ted" and Lois (Albert) Schmidt. Larry was a hunter, fisherman, and builder. He enjoyed being a mentor to his 14 year old grandson, teaching him the finest art of fishing and hunting.
Enjoyment for Larry was when his guitar was on his lap and he was picking with his family and friends. He played music for many of his family and friends, weddings, celebrations and funerals.
Larry loved his home that he built in the Maple Valley, south of Rushford. He was a talented man in many areas of his life. He wore his talents with great humility. Larry loved God and his family.
He leaves to mourn him his mother, Lois Albert Schmidt; his life partner, Dianne Shaw - Cummins; their children, Ted Allen Schmidt Regnaud and Bobbie Jo (Jon Hammond and their son, Sam Hammond) Larry's grandchildren were his bright light and greatest joy. His grandchildren are Jonah, Grace and Trinity Regnaud; step-daughter and dear friend, Amy Peterson and her daughter, Krista, and son-in-law, Nick Myhre; and Larry's three sisters: Diane Joseph, Pat LeLoup and Pam Majerus.
There are many others in Larry's life who's names may have been omitted. Please forgive us and know that Larry's love was great for all his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father; 3 brothers-in-law: Donnie, George, and Gary.
There will be a memorial service for Larry at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at the First Lutheran Church of Highland in rural Lanesboro, MN with the Reverend Patricia Hinkie officiating.
