Larry L. Mundt, 60, of rural Utica died Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 10, 1948 in Winona to Lewis and Florence (Peterson) Mundt. Larry graduated from Lewiston High School in 1966. Following high school he worked on road construction before being drafted into the Army and serving in the Vietnam War where he was a marksman and achieved the rank of SP4. Larry married Lynn Ellinghuysen on July 24, 1971. They made their home south of Utica, where they farmed their entire married life. He was a member of the Lewiston Church of the Brethren and had belonged to the National Rifle Association. Larry loved all kinds of hunting especially deer hunting. He also enjoyed trout fishing, searching for Morel Mushrooms, riding four-wheeler and going for rides with his dog Ernie. Survivors include his wife Lynn, four children, Casey (Erica) Mundt and Andy (Julie) Mundt, both of Utica, Lynda (Ken) Troke of Rollingstone and Lisa (Jason) Hoover of Rochester, five grandsons; Tanner, Sam, Owen, Orion and Wesley, two brothers, George (Yula) Mundt of Utica and Raymond (Ruby) Mundt of Spring Valley, two sisters, Elaine Degnan of St. Charles and Donna Johns (Mike) of Deer River, MN and his mother-in-law Lois Ellinghuysen of Lewiston. He was preceded in death by a son Joey on December 30, 2008, his parents Lewis and Florence, brothers-in-law Bill Degnan and Jim Johns and father-in-law Kenneth Ellinghuysen. Funeral Services will be 11AM Monday at The Lewiston Church of the Brethren. Burial will follow in Worth Cemetery in rural Utica.
