Kent Erdmann

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Kent Erdmann of Winona. He passed away on October 4, 2024 at the age of 80, in Fergus Falls, while attending a family reunion of Dawn’s first cousins.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dawn Nelson Erdmann; daughter, Beth (Bill) Hall; sons, Daniel Erdmann and Paul (Laura) Erdmann; grandchildren, Lauren, Jill, Becca, Lainey, Josh, Daniel and Kayla; siblings, Doris Oevering, Carol Feine, Jean Volkman, Dean (Mary) Erdmann, Vic (Linda) Erdmann and Kathy (Ken) Schmidt and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Gladys Erdmann of Winona.

Kent graduated in 1962 with a class of 55 from Lewiston High School. He participated in student council, football, golden gloves and was in the Army Reserves. He was known for being an all-around good guy.

Kent worked for Camera Art/Herff Jones for over 40 years. He started as a photographer in 1962 and worked his way to become plant manager in 1983. He loved both the work and the coworker relationships he made. He was proud to know the name of all 500 employees.

Kent was very involved with the Lions Club, St. Paul’s Church, Fools Five Road Race for cancer research, Economic Development Council for the city of Lewiston, Lewiston Country Club and Willowbrook Cooperative.

He had a love for travel and saw all 50 states and several countries. He and Dawn spent 16 winters in Destin, FL golfing and enjoying time with friends.

Memorial Service will be 11 a.m., Monday, October 14, 2024 at Hoff Celebration of Life Center – Goodview. Visitation will be 3-5 p.m., Sunday and one hour prior to the service on Monday, all at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Fools Five Road Race.

Kent elected to participate in a Mayo Clinic research program. Burial will take place at a later date in a private family ceremony.
