HOFF FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICE - RUSHFORD, MINN. 507-864-7771 Kent A. Jacobson, 93, of Winona, Minn. died on Sunday, July 25, at his home. Kent Arnold Jacobson was born on April 20, 1917, in Norway Township of Fillmore County, Minn. to Olaf and Ellen (Halvorson Dale) Jacobson. As an infant he moved with his family to Rivercourse, Alberta, Canada and lived there until after his mother's death. In 1929 he returned to Norway Township and attended the Grindland School. He graduated from Fosston High School in Fosston, Minn. in 1934, and from the University of Minnesota in 1940. He taught vocational agriculture at Glenwood, Starbuck, and Rushford, Minnesota, and veterans agriculture at Rushford and Houston, Minn. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He taught junior high science in the Gale Ettrick Trempealeau, Wisconsin school system for twenty years. Kent married Julia Grant on December 20, 1942. They lived for 18 years on the farm where his grandparents who were Norwegian immigrants settled in 1856. To Kent, that farm where he was born was always home and he spent as much time there as he could. He was a member of the Highland Prairie Lutheran Church, Nor-Win Lodge of the Sons of Norway, and American Legion Post #94 of Rushford. Kent is survived by his wife, Julia; sons: Kent L. Jacobson, Ross (Gloria) Jacobson, and Bern (Becky) Jacobson; nine grandchildren: Brent, Ruth (Derek Fogel), Heather, Rachel, Mark, Aaron (Lan), Jessica (Eric Urias), and Ellen Jacobson, and Abby (Mat) Lancelle; four great-granddaughters: Tawny Jacobson, Naomi Fogel, Hailey Jacobson, and Isabella Urias; and by one nephew and three nieces. He was preceded in death by four brothers, one sister, and one daughter-in-law, Barbara Jacobson. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 29, at Highland Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Peterson, Minn. with the Rev. Wade Davick officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
