Kenneth Theodore Kjosa

St. Charles,Kenneth Theodore "Ted" Kjosa, Jr. passed away Friday, March 20, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. Ted was born in Minneapolis on October 18, 1936, to Kenneth Kjosa and Selma (Mikkelson) Kjosa. He grew up in Decorah and Elgin, Iowa. Ted entered the U.S. Air Force on January 12, 1955, serving in Morocco and west Texas. After his discharge in 1958 Ted attended Luther College and graduated in 1963 with a B.A. in Business Administration. On July 6, of the same year, he married Louise Benston of Peterson, Minnesota. Following his marriage, Ted went back to school to get a teaching degree from Winona State College. In 1965 he began a 33-year teaching career in Peterson and St. Charles elementary schools. Ted raised cattle on his farm near Saratoga. He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in St. Charles, St. Charles American Legion, St. Charles Area Jaycees, Winona County Farm Bureau, Winona County Master Gardeners and the Winona County Fair Board. He and Louise were members of the Whitewater Whirlers Square Dance Club for over 40 years. Survivors include his wife Louise, 3 children: Kevin (Christine) Kjosa of San Antonio, Texas; Brian Kjosa of Hayfield, Minnesota and Amy (Robert) Blankenship of Leavenworth, Kansas; five grandchildren: Chloe, Brodde and Eric Kjosa; Abigail and Nathan Blankenship and a sister Sandra (Kjosa) Reams of Newton, Kansas His parents and one sister preceded him in death. Funeral Services will be 11AM Monday at Faith Lutheran Church in St. Charles with the Reverend Steve McGinley officiating. Burial will follow in Saratoga Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-6PM Sunday at Hoff Funeral Service in St. Charles. They may also call one hour before services at the church.
