Kenneth L. Georgens

Kenneth L. "Kenny" Georgens, 54, of Rushford died Saturday November 15, 2008, following a five month battle with cancer. Kenny was born August 29, 1954, in Aberdeen, South Dakota to Kenneth J. and Helene (Kritz) Georgens. He graduated from Tartan High School in Oakdale in 1972. Kenny and Pat O'Donnell were married September 6, 1980, in Rushford. He worked in carpentry for Glende Construction, Janzow Construction and Schauland Construction all of the Lewiston area. In 2007, Kenny graduated from Winona Technical College with a certificate in Professional Truck Driving. He had recently been driving truck for Omodt-Jorde Trucking Company of Rushford. Kenny was an avid fan of classic cars and street rods, currently owning a 1947 Ford Coupe street rod. He was a member of the Minnesota Street Rod Association. He loved spending time outdoors fishing, hunting, boating, snowmobiling, camping and motorcycling. Survivors include his wife Pat, a daughter Shannon of Winona, his parents Kenneth and Helene Georgens of Oakdale, two sisters, Doris O'Neil of Inver Grove Heights and Gayle Olson of Mounds View, mother-in-law Dorothy O'Donnell, brothers-in-law Jack (Jill) O'Donnell, Jim O'Donnell, sisters-in-law; Kathy Zacher, Teresa (Dave) O'Donnell-Ebner, Mary Neyers, Joan (Tom) Kauphusman, Nancy (Daren) Chambers and Christi (Tim) O'Donnell-Brand, paternal grandmother Dolores Georgens and a special uncle Duane (Arlene) Georgens and by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Harold "Bud" O'Donnell, maternal grandparents, Norma and Lewis "Bud" Kritz, and paternal grandfather, Clarence Georgens. Funeral Services will be 11AM Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rushford with the Reverend Joseph Pete officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8PM Tuesday at Hoff Funeral Home in Rushford. They may also call one hour before services at the church on Wednesday.
