Kenneth "Ken" E. Valentine

Kenneth "Ken" E. Valentine, 79, of Rollingstone, passed away peacefully with family by his side, Saturday, August 20, 2016 at St. Anne Extended Health Care. He was born on Feb. 3, 1937 to Donald and Atanza (Zehren) Valentine in Minnesota City. He enlisted in the United States Navy on April 13, 1955 in the Construction Battalion "Seebees", and was honorably discharged on April 10, 1959. On November 16, 1957 he married Teresa (Daniel) Valentine and together they had four children. They later divorced. He spent the majority of his life driving milk and dump trucks. He then went to work for Winona County in building maintenance retiring after 15 years of service. Ken was a member of the Minnesota City Boat Club, a sponsor and very active member of Duck's Unlimited and the Green Wings program. Ken's passion was duck hunting, but also enjoyed deer and turkey hunting, and always looked forward to the annual Ducks Unlimited banquet. He loved driving the river road but most of all loved spending time with his family. Ken is survived by his children, Dan (Lonna Simanovski) Valentine of Winona, Cheri (Rick) High of Eveleth, MN, Shelly (Norm) Allen of Winona, and Kathie (Kevin) Ruhoff of Lewiston, and their mother Teresa Valentine; a loving partner of 18 years, Judi Wetzel of Rollingstone; grandchildren, Atanza Palmer, Kali Erickson, Reid Valentine, Erica Grossbach, Ricky High, Maria and Adam Drenckhahn, and Alyssa and Abby Quaintance; great-grandchildren, Ashton, Sophia, Eli, Alden, Aven, and Emily; Siblings Joanne (Charlie) Sackett, Wayne (Sandy) Valentine, and Don (Carol) Valentine. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Valentine; step-granddaughter, Shauna Ruhoff; and great-grandchild, Benjamin. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, August 25 at Hoff Celebration of Life Center, Goodview, with Reverend William Kulas officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m., until the time of the service. Ken will be laid to rest at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Rollingstone with full military honors provided by the American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post #9. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Ducks Unlimited Green Wings program. Please leave a memory of Ken and sign his online guestbook at www.hofffuneral.com.
