Kenneth Harry Wenger, 72, of Winona, died Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the Minneapolis VA Hospital. Ken was born August 25, 1945 in Winona to Harry and Rose (Dejno) Wenger.
Ken's favorite pastimes were fishing and spending time with his many friends and family. Although he enjoyed all seasons, his favorite time of year was always Christmas which for him always had traditions around it including seeing family, church, and cooking the tradition Polish food he loved. Always a social person, he enjoyed being around people which extended to his love of Twin's baseball and attending games with his kids. After 30+ years in the Army and Winona's local 407th Army Reserve unit he retired in 1992. His military time included tours in Vietnam and Desert Storm. In his post military life he remained committed to his fellow Veteran's by spending much of his free time volunteering at the Winona VFW.
Ken is survived by his children, Chris (Candace) Wenger, Mike (Brenda) Wenger, Nick Wenger; grandchildren, Ashley, Victoria, Sophie, Katarina; siblings, Gary (Sandy) Wenger, Robert (Martha) Wenger, Barbara (Ronald) Hesch; adopted sisters, Barbara Appel and Katherine Wenger. He is preceded in death by his parents and an infant sibling.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Winona with visitation two-hours prior. Following the mass, military honors will be performed by the VFW at St. Mary's Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart.
