Kenneth Frederick Schumann, 83 of Lewiston and formerly of Lake City died Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family.Ken was born July 19, 1931 in Gilford Township, Wabasha County to Harry and Esther (Fick) Schumann. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Lake City in 1949. On December 28, 1951, he married Phyllis Katherine Wiebusch at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Belvedere Township. Ken served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1954-1955. He spent many years farming which was a passion of his. Ken also worked at IBM in Rochester for 25 years, which was a job he truly loved. Ken was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church - Silo for many years and also a member of the Lutheran Laymen's League and the American Legion. He was also a charter member of the Lewiston Ambulance, serving from 1973-1983.Ken enjoyed antique tractors, history, crossword puzzles, playing cards, visiting, polka dancing and most importantly, spending time with his grandchildren.He is survived by five sons, Lyle (Denise) of Lake City, Glenn of Grand Meadow, Matt (Doro) of Brainerd, Nate of Lewiston and Steve (Val) of Becker; one daughter, Eunice Ellstrom of Battle Lake; twelve grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ardell (Adelaine) of Zumbrota, Gene of Lake City and Frederick of Nemo, SD; one sister, Marcene VanMinsel of Adams and many nieces and nephews.Ken is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis; daughter, Kathleen; parents; sister, Marlys Ross and nephew, Richard Wiebusch.Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Immanuel Lutheran Church - Silo with the Reverend William Meilner officiating.
