Kenneth Richard Benck

Kenneth R. Benck, of Goodview, passed away on, January 15, 2025. He was born on March 17, 1937, to Walter “Mike” and Hilda (Janzow) Benck in Winona, MN. 

Ken went to Lewiston Schools and graduated in 1955. In December of 1956, Ken joined the Air Force for 4 years, and was stationed at various bases. This also was the year he married Joan Reglin. They had two children, and later divorced. 

Upon returning to Winona, Ken attended Vo-Tech for Tool and die Making. He earned his degree and worked at Lake Center Industries/TRW for more than 45 years. After he retired, Ken was a driver for Motor Parts. 

He was a member of St. Martin’s Church in Winona. 

In 1983, he married Marlene (Berg) Kotlarz, and from this union, was also blessed with 3 step-children, 4 step-grandchildren, and 1 step great grandchild. 

Ken is survived by his wife, Marlene Benck of 41 years; daughter, Cindy (Dan) Smith of Auburn, WA; son, Mike (Gail) Benck of Long Island, NY; step-son, David “Joe” J. (Paula) Kotlarz Jr. of Laughlin, NV; 2 step daughters, Vic (Randy) Reinhardt, and Val (Randy) Dennis, both of Winona, MN; 4 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; 1 future great grandson; 4 step grandchildren; 1 step great grandchild; along with many nieces and nephews. 

Ken was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Bundy of Minneapolis, and Judy Barnes of Quincy, IL; and brother-in-law, Joseph Barnes of Quincy, IL. 

There will be a visitation from 9am-11am on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Hoff Funeral Home (3480 Service Dr. Goodview, MN) followed by the memorial service at 11am. There will be a luncheon after the service and burial at Pleasant Valley cemetery following the luncheon.

Pastor Moore will be celebrating with family and friends.
