Kay Ann Mayer, 79, of Dover, passed away on February 2, 2025. Kay was born on April 6, 1945, in Mankato, MN, to Gerald and Marcella (Williams) Biehn. She graduated from Dover-Eyota High School in 1963 and soon after embarked on a beautiful journey of love and family.
On May 13, 1967, Kay married the love of her life, Everett Mayer, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Eyota, MN. Together, they made a wonderful life in Dover, where they raised their family and built a community of friends and family that was truly special.
Kay was known for her warm heart and infectious hospitality. She worked at Camera Art, Mayo Clinic, and later alongside Everett at EV's Body Shop. Those who were lucky enough to visit her home were greeted with the irresistible scents of Kay's famous chocolate cake, brownies, and cookies, which she baked with love. Meals were always served promptly at noon and 6 PM, ensuring her family was well-fed and gathered around the table.
Kay's zest for life was evident in her love of the outdoors. We'll remember those fishing trips to Lake Kabetogama and the weekend countryside drives with Everett, often ending at the casino that filled her heart with joy. She was very active in her earlier years shooting competitive pool in leagues with her friends. She enjoyed many afternoons riding around Dover in her golf cart where she would end up socializing with friends and having a couple Pepsi's.
Her granddaughters held a special place in her heart, and she could be seen cheering proudly at their sporting events, showing her unwavering support. Kay had an undeniable passion for life that also extended to her beloved grand-dogs and great-grandchildren who brought her so much happiness.
Kay is survived by her two children, Tim (Stacy) Mayer of Dover and Jody (Cory) Johnson of Minnetonka; granddaughters, Brittni (Bryan) Neis, Briana (Brad Tucker) Mayer, Brooke Mayer; step-granddaughter, Alexis Johnson; great-grandchildren, Quinn, Blake, and Bolden Neis, Brekken and Easton Tucker; siblings, Karen (Jerry) Anderson, Connie Burgdorf, Ken Biehn; sisters-in-law, Gwen Mayer and Linda Mayer.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Marcella Biehn; husband, Ev Mayer; parents-in-law, John and Betty Mayer; brother-in-law, Curt Burgdorf, Robert Mayer, Clayt Mayer, Gerald Hasse; sisters-in-law, Gloria Biehn, and Karen Hasse.
Funeral services will be on Friday, February 7, 2025 at Hoff Funeral Home in St. Charles, MN at 12pm. Visitation will begin prior to the service starting at 10am. Kay will be laid to rest, next to her husband at Little Valley Cemetery in Dover.
