Kay (Laufenburger) Jilk, 61, of rural St. Charles died Thursday, July 11, 2019 at her home, surrounded by her family and under the loving care of her daughter, Sierra. Kay was born August 14, 1957 in Winona to Roger and Selma (Nisbit) Laufenburger. She was raised in Lewiston. Kay graduated from Lewiston High School and went on to receive a business degree from Rochester Vo-Tech. For the past 32 years she has worked as the office manager for The Center for Effective Living in Rochester. Kay has spent the past 32 years with her lifelong companion and husband, Pete Jilk. She enjoyed the outdoors, feeding birds, reading mystery novels, caring for her dogs and spending time with her family and friends. Kay also enjoyed her time working along side Pete with his lumber business.
Kay is survived by her husband Pete, a daughter Sierra (Michael) McIntyre of Rochester, two sons Trent (Megann) Doran of Mankato and Jake Jilk of Chatfield, three grandchildren; Traesyn, Daxen and Eagan, a brother Bruce Laufenburger, two sisters, Kelly (Doug) Trainor of Rochester and Dawn Laufenburger of Rochester and her dog Penny. She is also survived by Sister Therese Jilk and Chris Falkowski, who treated her like a sister. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Funeral Mass for Kay will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Elba with The Reverend James Callahan officiating. Burial will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery.
