Kathy (Weldon) Nelson

December 3, 1957 — August 10, 2017

Kathleen (Kathy) Rose Nelson, 59, lost her battle with lung cancer on August 10, 2017. She was born on December 3,1957 in New Ulm MN to Paul and Gloria (Nundahl) Weldon. The oldest of six children. She graduated in 1976 from St. Charles High School, and went onto Winona Technical College to study Cosmetology, graduating in 1977. Kathy worked at Carmen's Salon for several years before going to work at Camera Art for 12 years. Kathy was married to Wayne Nelson of St. Charles, MN in 1978 and had two daughters (Angela and Melissa). Kathy moved to the Twin Cities in 1998 and worked in customer service for various companies until her illness in 2015. Kathy will be remembered for her devotion to her grandchildren and as the best Grandma babysitter ever! She often spoke of them during her illness as the light of her life.

Kathy is survived by her daughters Angie Nelson and Melissa (Dan) Hicks. Her seven grandchildren Dylan, Shayla, and Mishon Nelson; Chasity, Chase, Dakota and Ally Hicks. Her Mother Gloria Weldon. Her long time domestic partner Charlie Witt. Her siblings Susanne (Leonard) Clark, Barb (Thomas) Hoffecker, Ron Weldon, Pat (Scott) Solheim. Her nieces Nicky Weldon, Sheri (Brian) Beaupre and Morgan Weldon. Kathy was preceded in death by her father Paul Weldon, brother James Weldon and husband Wayne Nelson. Arrangements are being made by Hoff Funeral Home of St. Charles. Celebration of Kathy's life will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Patriot's Pub located at 1148 Whitewater Avenue, St. Charles, MN.

Kathy wanted to be sure to thank Park Nicollet Frauenshuh Cancer Center at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, MN and Allina Health Hospice Care in Shakopee, MN for their outstanding support.
