Katherine Girod

WINONA, MINN. - Katherine Girod, 101, of Winona died on August 8, 2007, at the Sauer Memorial Home in Winona. Katherine was born on March 4, 1906, in Winona to John and Anna (Loeding) Wasnoska. She was raised in Winona, graduated from Winona High School and attended Winona Business School. She worked as a secretary at Standard Lumbar Company and Winona Social Security Office, retiring in 1970. Katherine married Fred H. Girod on October 3, 1970. Fred died in March of 1991. She enjoyed reading. Katherine was a member of the Homer United Methodist Church and the ladies aid there, as well as Toastmasters and the Audubon Society. Katherine is survived by three step sons: Donald (Allison) Girod of Cattaraugus, New York, George Girod of Troy, Michigan, and David Girod of Winona; two grandchildren, one niece, and several cousins. Besides her husband, Katherine was also preceded in death by her brother, Walter Wasnoska. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 14, at the Homer United Methodist Church with the Rev. Christine Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Winona. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the church. The family prefers memorials to be directed to the Sauer Memorial Home.
