Karen M. Pilger, 63, died Thursday, February 19, 2009, at St. Michael's Lutheran Home in Fountain City, WI, following a courageous battle with lung cancer. Karen was born August 27, 1945, in Arcadia, WI, to Woodrow and Mae (Buchholz) Herzberg. She married Kenneth H. Pilger on May 8, 1965, in Fountain City, WI. Karen had a fondness for children and was a longtime home daycare provider. She also worked in housekeeping at St. Michael's Lutheran Home for 10 years. Karen loved to dance, gardening and boating on the river. She was a member of Goodview Trinity Lutheran Church in Goodview.Survivors include her three children, Kris (Dave) Keller of Appleton, WI, Kathy (Jessie) Maynard of Trempealeau, WI, and Kevin (Suzanne) Pilger of Lewiston, MN; nine grandchildren; two brothers, David (Karen) Herzberg of Fountain City, WI, and Chuck Herzberg of Kellogg, MN; and two sisters, Jane (Gene) Stanek of Winona, MN, and Ruth (Tony) Lemmer of Minnieska, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Kenneth, and brother, Allen "Pete" Herzberg.Funeral services are planned for Monday, February 23, 2009, at 11:00am, at Goodview Trinity Lutheran Church in Goodview, MN, with the Reverend Tony Hansen officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Winona, MN.
