WINONAKaren Anne King (Nee Thilmany), 62 of Winona, died Friday, December 5, 2014 under hospice care at Lake Winona Manor.Karen was born September 20, 1952 in Winona to Raymond and Bernice (Stolpa) Thilmany. Her sisters wanted a brother, but when Karen came home, she had big brown eyes and tons of little ringlets of curls. They all fell in love with her. Karen graduated from Winona High School and later worked for Sprint. She was married to Roger King and was later divorced. She is survived by her sisters: Barbara (Don) Lee, Rita (Donald) Johnson, and Sharon Thilmany; nephews: Rick Lee and his son Michael, Troy (Amy) Johnson and their children Mackenzie and Tyler, Zack (Sunny) Johnson and their children Spencer and Mia, and Christian (Roz) Thilmany. Karen was preceded in death by her parents; and her niece, Michelle Johnson. Her family and friends enjoyed being with her and having fun at any kind of social gathering. They learned the art of shopping from Karen. If you find slacks that fit great, buy a couple pair. Toilet paper is best purchased by the gross, and Keebler Grasshopper Mint Fudge cookies are best in the freezer! And, the $1 bins are Target are a must. She also loved Native American things. When her mother became ill, she was there to help her in her time of need. There are those who remain who will picture her always with her beautifully curly hair, wearing a t-shirt and fuzzy pants, with a Pepsi or water in her hand. 'Til we see you again. We all love you (especially Wenonah, her dog)!Memorial Mass will be 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka with visitation one hour prior. God looked around His gardenand found an empty place. Then He looked down on this earthAnd saw you tired face.He knew that you were in pain.He knew that you would never get wellUpon this earth again. He put His arms around youAnd lifted you to rest.God's garden must be beautiful. He only takes the best.-Author Unknown
