RUSHFORD, MINN. ? Justin Johnson, 92, of Rushford and formerly of rural Lanesboro, died, Friday, October 23, 2003, at The Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford. Justin was born on January 8, 1911, in rural Lanesboro to Joe and Anna (Nyhus) Johnson. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. during WWII. Justin was a lifelong area farmer. On November 14, 1945, Justin married Hilda Severtson. He enjoyed baseball, skiing, wrestling, boxing, playing cards, the outdoors, and especially spending time with his family. He was a member of the North Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Lanesboro, where he was a longtime board member and brotherhood member. Justin was also a member of the Peterson American Legion and the Rushford VFW. He is survived by two daughters: Margaret (Dr. Robert) Kennedy of Arlington, TX and Sharon (Gary) Zahn of Chatfield, Minn.; four sons: David Johnson of Lanesboro, Minn., Gordon (Arlene) Johnson of Rushford, Minn., Joe (Cathy) Johnson of Peterson, Minn., and Charles (Lynette) Johnson of Lanesboro, Minn. 16 grandchildren, two of which lived with Justin and Hilda, Peter (Cathy) Kennedy of Rochester, Minn. and Beth (Dave) Gransee of Kasson, Minn., 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Justin was preceded in death by his wife, three grandsons: Ryan Corey Zahn, James Phillip Danielson, and John Phillip Danielson, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on Monday, October 27, at North Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Lanesboro with the Rev. Ronald Warnes and the Rev. Janet Warnes officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors by the Peterson American Legion. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at Hoff Funeral Homes Rushford Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. The family prefers memorials to be directed to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home or North Prairie Lutheran Church.
