She is survived by two sisters: Gladys (Glen Meiners) of Caledonia, Minn. and Lylah Almon of Laguna Beach, California.Judy's mom died when she was seven. Judy later left school at age 12 to help care for her sisters and the household on the family farm. She married Sherman O. Anderson on November 22, 1941. They had one son, Larry Sherman Anderson, who passed away in 1990. They were married for more than 58 years when Sherman passed away in 2000. Judy spent her early married years with Sherman first in Omaha, Nebraska and then in California where Sherman worked in the airline industry until he was called to serve during the war. When Sherman was drafted, Judy and her son moved back to her father's farm. After the war, Sherman and Judy bought their farm and began their life in Houston County. Judy loved everybody and had an active social life. She and Sherman were avid square dancers, loved taking bus trips when they could, and entertained family and friends often at their home in Yucatan. Judy also worked both in Spring Grove and later in Rushford. She remained friends with the people she met there even after she retired. Judy was very active in the Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, Garden Clubs, Red Hatters, and loved to shop!! She volunteered at Valley View Nursing Home right up to the time she was diagnosed with MS at age 86. She had to move to Valley View herself from Heritage Court. Judy continued her active life in the home and was always eager to go on any outings, especially to go shopping.
