Rochester, Judith "Judy" Marie Ahrens, 70, of Rochester and formerly of Lewiston died Tuesday October 2, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. Judy was born March 7, 1942 in Lewiston to Erwin and Elsie (Doerr) Ahrens. She lived her childhood with her family on their farm on West Main in Lewiston and regarded the farm as home her entire life. Judy lived for many years at a group home in Rochester, where she was quite content and enjoyed the kind and attentive staff and housemates. She worked at Ability Enterprises in Rochester where she was awarded the Lowry Award of Achievement. Some of Judy's favorite activities include; visits from her brother and sister-in-law, sugar cut-out cookies for special holidays, fresh flowers from her garden, sweet treats, one on one attention, a gentle touch. She loved watching Tom and Jerry Cartoons in her sitting room and enjoyed bright colors. Judy enjoyed visiting and was quite a conversationalist. She was strong willed, tender hearted, feisty, charming and witty. She was always well mannered, quick to acknowledge a kindness by saying "Please" or "Thank You". Judy was known for her great love of nature and flowers. She had enviable red locks and baby blues. Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law Richard and Karen Ahrens of Lewiston, a sister Anita Lafky of Winona and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents. Services to Celebrate Judy's life will be 11AM Friday at Hoff Funeral Service of St. Charles with Funeral Celebrant Tim Hoff presiding. Friends may call one hour before services at the funeral home.
