Judith Ann Evans Brown, 72, of Lanesboro, died Thursday, July 23, 2015, at her home.
She was born Aug. 18, 1942, at County Memorial Hospital in Langdon, N.D., to Edward A. Evans and Mary Ann Symons. She attended a rural school near Langdon, then Cottey College for Women in Nevada, Mo.; Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa; and Valley State Teachers College in Valley City, N.D.
On Nov. 1, 1974, she married Gary Brown at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Rawlins, Wyo. She taught at schools in Eveleth, Minn.; Crookston, Minn.; Wansatter, Wyo.; and Garrett, Okla.; and she opened her own preschool in Beaver, Okla. She was a member of AAVW, Alpha Delta Gamma, Delta Delta Kappa and Eastern Star PEO, and she was a proud member of the Rainbow Grand Cross of Colors.
Judith enjoyed quilting, was active in church, loved going to potlucks, entertaining, baking, reading and playing whist with her neighbor daily at 3 p.m.
Survivors include her husband, Gary Brown; a sister, Lois (Dean) Romfo, Hannah, N.D.; brothers, Tom and Neil Evans, of Hamilton, Mont., and Langdon, N.D.; a brother-in-law, Tom Yingling, of Witchita, Kan.; a sister-in-law, Sharon (Joe) Ledell, of McPherson, Kan.; a sister-in-law, Annita Allen, of Conroe, Texas; a half sister-in-law, Carolyn (David) Keith, of Gardena, Calif.; a stepson, Greg (Cindy) Brown, of Broken Arrow, Okla.; a stepdaughter, Carla Anderson; six great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law Sam Wong; her mother-in-law, Lela Wong; in-laws, Archie and Gladys Yingling; a brother-in-law, Glen Yingling; sisters-in-law, Sharon Wong, Sandra Schroeder Evans and Judy Domores.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church in Lanesboro, with pastors Amanda Larsen and Beth Perez officiating.
Visitation will be for an hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Lanesboro cemetery.
