Judith Ann Johnson, 70, of Chatfield, died Thursday, June 14, 2012, at the Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield, where she resided for four days, from complications of a stroke. Judith Ann Strande was born April 8, 1942, in Dover, to Casper and Anna Mae (Dunn) Strande. She grew up in the Pilot Mound area, and attended Chosen Valley High School graduating with the class of 1960. On Oct. 7, 1960, she married Gary Johnson at the Pilot Mound Lutheran Church in rural Chatfield. The couple moved to Rochester and then to South St. Paul. They moved back to Chatfield in 1969 to the Johnson family farm where they lived until moving to Lewiston where she and Gary owned and operated the Harvest Bowl. She moved back to Chatfield in 2002 and worked at the Chosen Valley Care Center where she was the housekeeping supervisor. She was an active member of the Pilot Mound Lutheran Church. Judith served as the Secretary for many years at NFO, and was one of the founding member of the Chatfield Wrestling Booster Club. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, golfing, fishing, playing cards, puzzles and board games. She enjoyed the outdoors and loved gardening. When she wasn't making sure that everyone around her was happy and taken care of, she love to relax with her old movies and her cat, Baby. Survivors include her mother, Anna Mae Strande of Chatfield; two sons, Don (Sue) Johnson and Dave (Brenda) Johnson both of Chatfield; five grandchildren, Melissa, Krista, Kyle, Megan and Garrett and one great-granddaughter, Rosalie; two brothers, Larry (Cheryl) Strande of Rochester and Gary (Ellen) Strande of Utica; two sisters, Joyce (Pete) Manahan of Greeley, Colo., and Joan Smith of Auburn, Calif.; and six nieces and four nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary in 1998; her father, Casper Strande; and an infant daughter, Katherine. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, at Pilot Mound Lutheran Church in rural Chatfield, with Pastor Ronald and Janet Warner officiating. Burial will be in the Pilot Mound Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, June 18, at Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield, and one hour prior to the services at the church on Tuesday.
