Sackett - Joyce (Haines), 75, died peacefully at her home in St. Charles, MN on March 31, 2016 after a long battle with liver disease and cancer.
Joyce leaves behind her beloved husband of 29 years, Keith Sackett of St. Charles and her sons from a previous marriage: Jim Borowick (wife Laurie) of Plymouth, MN and their sons Andrew, Paul, Jonah and Nathan, and Paul Borowick (wife Sharon) of Eau Claire, WI and their children Kevin and Jessica. She is also survived by her very special friend, who she treated like a daughter, Donna Kieffer of St. Charles.
She was born in Fullerton, CA November 7, 1940, the daughter of Michael and Virginia (Arnold) Haines. When she was 3 months old, her mother moved to Ashland, WI to live in the residence of Virginia's brother Harold and wife Ruth Arnold. She graduated from Ashland High School in 1959 and married Roger Borowick, also of Ashland, in 1961. They eventually resided in Rochester, MN where they raised their sons Jim and Paul. After their divorce, she settled in St. Charles where she met and married her second husband Keith in 1986, with whom she had very full and fun life.
Joyce was a proud employee of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester where she enjoyed her long career as a technician in various tissue analysis laboratories. She retired in 2006.
She loved her home and the community of St. Charles. An avid gardener and bird watcher, she enjoyed her flowers and the birds that visited every season. She raised an assortment of pets and looked forward to vacations to her favorite places in northern Wisconsin. Always quick with a smile and word of encouragement, Joyce cared deeply about, and appreciated, her friends and family who she loved to be with and knew she could lean on. She also loved and depended on her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Joyce was a member of the Women of the Moose, and St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
A Funeral Mass for Joyce will be 11AM Wednesday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with the Reverend Kurt Farrell officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call one hour before services at the church. Please share a guestbook memory of Joyce at on-line at
