Utica, Joy Marie Kieffer, 68 of Utica died Saturday evening December 25th at her home.Joy was born October 5, 1936 in Quincy Township of Olmsted County to Gustav and Clara (Schuchard) Ihrke. She graduated from St. Charles High School in 1954 and married Allen Kieffer on May 25, 1955 in Lewiston. The couple farmed in rural Utica until moving in to Utica in 1962. Joy was a homemaker. She also provided in-home day care for the last 25 years, retiring earlier this year due to illness. Survivors include her husband Allen (Toby), three sons; Robert (Mary) of Appleton, MN, Kyle (Pat) of St. Charles and Tod (Alanna) of Utica, a daughter Amy (Julio) Salazar of Apple Valley, MN, six grandchildren; Nicole, Ashley, Jamie, Matthew, Travis and Amanda. She is also survived by six brothers, George (Marge) Ihrke of Dover; Delmer (Mary Jane) Ihrke of St. Charles; Robert (Ruby) Ihrke of St. Charles; Gene (Fern) Ihrke of Altura; Arley (Mary) of Houston and Gustav (Marilyn) Ihrke of St. Charles; three sisters, Leola Hinckley of Utica; Shirley (William) Loppnow of St. Charles and Lorry (Irvin) Hohmann of Dover. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Beryl, Ellsworth, Melvin and Vernon and a sister Elaine Sanders.Funeral Services will be 11 AM Thursday at Faith Lutheran Church in St. Charles with the Rev. Gerald Melby officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery at St. Charles. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Wednesday at Hoff Funeral Home's ? St. Charles Chapel.
