Josephine Larson BoiceJune 26, 1912 - December 3, 2010Josephine heard the sound of the Lord as he was walking in the garden 12.03.2010 in the cool of the day. The Lord called out, where are you Josephine, and taking His hand she walked into eternal happiness. She was born Almira Josephine Fouzie on June 26th, 1912 to Sydney and Florence Nightengale (Abbott) Fouzie. Her family home was five miles southwest of St. Charles in Elmira Township, Olmsted County, on the same farm which Josephine and Charles Abbott homesteaded when they came from Pennsylvania. She also has a brother Charles Fouzie.Jo stayed on the family farm until she married Alvin George Larson in 1934. The two made their home on a small ranch, beneath the Hammer Hills in Utica, raising seven children, Alvin, George, Betty, Albert, Martin, Sonja and Curtis.Alvin Larson passed away 1950. Jo remained in Utica working at the Egg Produce for Clarence Craven and moved on to be a waitress at Del's Cafe for fifty or more years.Jo married Wendell Boice in 1970 and he later passed away on March 4, 1988. Jo was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Utica where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir, a leader of the Utica 4-H, over 50 year member of American Legion Auxiliary, loved to crochet, garden, and taking care of her animals; goats, sheep, chickens and cats. She especially loved to bake bread, pies, and rolls. There was always a place at Jo's table.Survivors include her seven children, Alvin, George ( Sheryll) , Betty (Curt) Stark, Albert (Idella),Martin, Sonjia (Frank) Gerry, Curtis (Dianne); 15 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; two step-children, Fred (Connie) and Coreene Collins; 6 step-grandchildren; 9 step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild.She was preceeded in death by her parents, two husbands, 3 sons, Alvin, George and Martin, 2 grandchildren, 1 great- grandchild, brother Charles and sister-in-law Ethel Fouzie.
