Joseph Stanley Gillett, 28, died Friday, January 13, 2012, at Winona Health from injuries suffered in a snowmobile accident. Joe was born August 30, 1983, in Eau Claire, WI, to Ronald and Joette (Studer) Gillett. Joe was a 2002 graduate of Cochrane Fountain City High School. He married Amanda Bagniewski on June 18, 2011, in Black River Falls, WI. Joe was a loving husband and took great pride in the blessed knowledge that he and his wife are expecting a baby girl whom he already nicknamed, Sweet Pea. Joe worked for RTP in Winona for the past 5 years. Joe had a creative and mechanical gift which allowed him to remodel their home, kept him busy tinkering in the garage with numerous projects, and a handyman to many of his relatives and friends. Joe loved spending time outdoors boating and fishing on the river along with many other outdoor activities, especially with his "BC Boys". He also cherished his time at home snuggling with his wife on the couch taking in the evening programs on TV and planning for their future. Joe is lovingly remembered for his kind spirit that children were attracted to and will be deeply missed by his nieces and nephews, Noah Lanter, Grace Murphy, Katelyn and Madelyn Landwer, Andrea Bautch, and Wes and Madi Davis. He will be also missed by his wife, Amanda; parents, Ron and Joette Gillett of Buffalo City, WI; sister, Stephanie (Patrick) Murphy of Covington, LA; brothers, Kevin (Cari) Landwer of Mankato, MN, and Shawn (Courtney Gearhart) Gillett of Laramie, WY; maternal grandmother, Mary Studer of Mankato, MN; and many aunts and uncles; mother-in-law, Edith Bagniewski; brothers and sisters - in -law, Peggy Bagniewski & Jake Davis, Cindy & Bob Bautch, Stephanie & Frank Peterson; and close friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Merl & Charlotte Gillett; maternal grandfather, Stanley Studer; and father-in-law, Gerald Bagniewski. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 20th, at 1:00pm, at Cathedral of Sacred Heart in Winona with the Reverend Michael Cronin and Pastor Joe McConkey officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Winona, MN. Visitation will be held on Thursday at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service - Hansen Goodview Chapel from 4-8:00pm and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials.
