Joseph Lence Newell

GOODVIEW, MINN. - Joseph L. "Joe" Newell, 74, of Goodview died on Friday, February 2, 2007, at Winona Community Memorial Hospital in Winona, Minn. Joe was born on June 13, 1932, in Winona, Minn. to Atwell and Gertrude (Lence) Newell. He grew up in Winona, where he attended school. He married Frances Zywicki on March 29, 1952 in Winona. He worked for Badger Construction in Winona as an assembler. Joe was a member of the Minnesota City Boat Club for many years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He is survived by his wife, Frances; one son: Stephen Newell of Goodview; two daughters: Nancy (Ken) Mehaffey, and Becky (Bill) Soranno both of Winona; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and one brother: John (Helen) Newell of Fountain City, Wis. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and two sisters. There is a private family service scheduled for Joe.
