Lewiston, Jonathan Michael Mraz, 17, a senior at Lewiston-Altura High School, died Sunday morning October 19th in Lewiston. Jon was born May 27, 1986 in Roswell, GA to Mike and Dede (Mueller) Mraz. He lived in Marrietta, GA. He was named Jonathan because it means "Gift of God". He moved to MN when he was 7. Jon was in 4-H, where he showed dairy cattle and had been the State Grand Champion with an electric exhibit. Jon was a member of Living Light Church in Winona and attended Awanas. He had been in football, track, wrestling and band in high school. He was currently student body president and a consistent honor roll student. He had a love of history and had varied interests including ancient Egypt & WWII. Jon was very artistic and loved to pain and draw. He enjoyed playing video games, most recently war games and was perfecting his strategy to take over the world. He rooted for the Atlanta Braves and Falcons and collected weaponry. Jonathan was very kind and special. He enjoyed Mexican vacations and was planning to visit Germany this summer to see Valentin, our exchange student. After high school he was planning on attending U of WI ?Madison or St. Olaf to study nursing or become a history teacher. Jon we love you and will miss you greatly. You truly made an impact and the world is a better place because of you. He will always be remembered for his smile. Survivors include his mother Dede Mraz of Lewiston, his father Michael (Edith) Mraz of Jasper, GA, a brother Nathan of Lewiston, sister Mikayla at home, maternal grandmother Frances Mueller of Lewiston, and his special friend Erin Daley of Lewiston. Funeral Services will be 2 PM Wednesday at Lewiston-Altura High School with Pastor Brian Weaver of Living Light Church officiating. Burial will follow in Fremont Scotch Cemetery, rural Lewiston. Friends may call from 3-8 PM Tuesday at Hoff Funeral Home's ? Lewiston Chapel. They ma also call one hour before services at the school. A Memorial is being arranged.
