John Robert Miller, 101 of Lewiston, died Monday, September 16, 2013 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford. John was born April 14, 1912 in Warren Township, Winona County to Robert Henry and Mary (Shetler) Miller. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1928 and attended the University of Minnesota's Agriculture Short Course for two years. He married Bernice Helen Fuller on December 23, 1939; she died in 1970. On March 2, 1972 he married J. Mae Srock (Fuller); she died in 1998. John was a farmer his entire life. When I 90 opened, he became the caretaker of the Enterprise and Dresbach Rest Areas, where he continued to work until he was 87 years old. He enjoyed gardening, traveling and had a heart of gold.He is survived by his son, Jack (Pat) of Lewiston; son-in-law, Dale Bain of Big Lake; five grandchildren, Jeff Bain; Chad, Troy, Robb & Luke Miller; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Lucille Blumentritt of Winona and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his two wives; daughter, Judy Bain; granddaughter, Vicky Woody and two sisters, Mabel Simon and Alice Miller.Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service - Lewiston with the Reverend Michelle Rem officiating. Burial will follow at Lewiston Public Cemetery.
