John Maus

Rollingstone, John "Jack" E. Maus, 78, of Rollingstone died Monday evening November 15, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. Jack was born September 22, 1932 in Winona to Erwin and Eleanor (Reisdorf) Maus. He graduated from Winona Cotter in 1950. On November 24, 1956 Jack and Dixie Schumacher were married. They made their home in Rollingstone. He was a long haul trucker; working for Schultz Transit for 10 years and an independent long distance driver for more than 25 years until retiring. He loved his time outdoors, especially those many years spent with his family at their cabin on the river. He was a skilled mechanic and ironworker. Jack and Dixie shared their great love for their Dalmatians, and always welcomed friends and family (and dogs) in their home. They enjoyed a good story or joke. In his younger years Jack played baseball for the Rollingstone Merchants team and remained a sports fan throughout his life. Survivors include his wife Dixie, three children; Bryan "Pete" (Barb) Maus of Rollingstone, Shelley (John) Woeste of Salt Lake City, UT and Sherry (Rich) Kulas of St. Charles, seven grandchildren; Shanna, Blaine, Ty, Jack, Will, Joe and Sarah, three great-grandchildren; Kaida, Delainee and Cambria, a sister Marilyn (Gene) Treder of Rochester and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws Alice and Lloyd Schumacher. A Funeral Mass will be 11AM Saturday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Rollingstone. Reverend James Steffes will concelebrate the mass with Reverend Donald Lovas. Burial of his cremated remains will be in St. Mary's Cemetery at Oak Ridge. Friends may call at Holy Trinity Catholic Church from 5-8PM Friday and one hour before services on Saturday. Prayers will be said at 7:30PM Friday at the church. Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service - Hansen Goodview Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
