John "Jack" L. Schreiber, 76, of rural Winona, Minn. died on Thursday, February 26, at Community Memorial Hospital in Winona, Minn. Jack was born on June 8, 1932, in Winona, Minn. to Adolph and Modesta (Rozek) Schreiber. He was a graduate of Winona Cotter High School. Jack served in the U.S. Army from June 11, 1953 to May 2, 1955. He was stationed in Germany for 18 months as Corporal E-4. He received a Medal of National Defense for his time served in the military. Jack farmed in the Winona area for most of his life. He loved his sports and he especially enjoyed playing basketball in the barn at his farm. He was a member of The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Winona. Jack is survived by one brother, Bernard of Rushford, Minn.; one sister: Joan (James) Vondrasek of Winona, Minn.; Nieces and Nephews: Jon, Marty, Michael, David, Patrick, and Robert Mullen, Kristie Rundell, Joseph and Tammy Vondrasek, Terri Derouin, and Timothy Mundt; and a brother-in-law, Sylvester Mullen. Jack will be sadly missed by all. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother. Per Jacks wishes there will be no funeral services.
