John J. Holzer, 72 of Winona, died Thursday, March 16, 2017 at his home.
John was born January 26, 1945 in Winona to John Sr., and Amanda (Fix) Holzer. He served his country honorably in the United States Army. He worked at Lake Center Industries for 37 years until his retirement. John was a member of St. Casimir's Parish.
He loved golf and achieved two holes-in-one and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. His biggest pride and joy was his family and he treasured every minute he spent with them.
He is survived by his wife, Sue; two daughters, Shari (Brian) Himlie of Rochester and Kelly (Steve) Porter of La Crescent; four grandchildren, Jalen Heyer, Jordan Heyer , Landon Porter, and Morgan Porter; brothers and sisters, Mary (Jerry) Daley, Robert (Barb) Holzer, Kay (Bill) Wise, Dave (Tess) Holzer, Rich (Linda) Holzer, Judy (Jerry) Schellhammer, Pat Marcil, Will Holzer, and Deb (Doug) Harnish; brother-in-law, Bob Lindner, Jr. and many nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lynn (Holzer) Benedict and an infant sister, Shirley Holzer.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Monday, March 20, 2017 at Hoff Celebration of Life Center in Goodview, led by Funeral Celebrant Jodi Heim. John will be laid to rest at St. Mary's Cemetery with the American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post 9 will provide Full Military Honors. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m., Sunday and one hour prior to the service on Monday, all at the funeral home.
