John F. Logan

John F. Logan, 89, of Winona and formerly of St. Charles, died Sunday morning December 30, 2007 at St. Anne Extended Healthcare in Winona. He was born March 20, 1918 in Stewartville to Charles and Nora (Daly) Logan and attended Stewartville High School. John and Amilda Tiede were married July 16, 1966. He worked as a bookkeeper for Patterson Quarries of St. Charles, which later became Mathy Construction, retiring in 1994. Amilda died July 31, 1990. He moved to Callista Court of Winona in the fall of 1997 and to St. Anne Extended Healthcare this past summer. John was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church of St. Charles, where he was active as a choir member, usher, and member of the Parish Council. He had served on the St. Charles City Council; was active in the St. Charles Moose Lodge and in 1977 was chosen Minnesota's Moose Club's Man of the Year. In 1989 he received the Moose Lodge's Pilgrim Award, also a distinguished honor. Survivors include six sisters; Pauline Zweber of White Bear Lake, MN, Sisters Neal and Fidelis Logan of Rochester, Alicia de Luca and Dolores Vidmar, both of San Francisco and Charlotte McConnell of St. Augustine, FL. A Funeral Mass will be 11AM Wednesday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with the Reverend James Callahan officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
