RUSHFORD, MINN. - John "Jack" D. Rislove, 71, of Rushford, Minn. died on Thursday, August 6, 2009, surrounded by his family at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford. Jack was born on January 20, 1938, in LaCrosse, Wis. to Peder and Mabel (Dubbs) Rislove. He was raised in Rushford and graduated from Rushford High School in 1956. Jack was united in marriage with Sheila Buckingham on May 1, 1959, in Plainview, Minn. He worked as a mason and brick layer for many years. He was on the Rushford Fire Department for 27 years as well as working as a part time police officer in Rushford. Jack was a member of the Rushford Lutheran Church and the Hardwood Sportsman Club. Jack enjoyed being around people, woodworking, hunting, fishing, trapping, and harvesting Ginseng. Jack is survived by his wife Sheila of Rushford; two sons: John (Kim) Rislove of Fountain City, Wis., and Jim (Kriste) Rislove of Peterson, Minn.; five grandchildren: Leah (Darrin) Dessner, Tony Rislove, Laura Rislove, Luke Rislove, and Nathan Rislove; one sister, Jill Schacht of Dayton, Ohio; and by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Robert and Carrol; and two sisters: Pauline and Harriet. There will be a memorial service for Jack at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 11, at Rushford Lutheran Church with the Rev. Roger Michaelson officiating. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, at Hoff Funeral Homes - Rushford Chapel. The family prefers memorials to be directed to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home.
