Joan Mary Wadewitz, 77, of Stockton died Tuesday morning, July 17, 2012 at Winona Health Services. She was born October 2, 1934 in Lewiston to Ted and Pauline Luehmann. Joan was confirmed in April of 1948 at Immanuel Lutheran Church at Silo where she developed her strong faith. On June 30, 1957 Joan and Harold Wadewitz were married at Silo and made their home in Lewiston. Joan was a homemaker until her four children were raised and she began working as a baker for Lewiston-Altura Public Schools. Following retirement the couple moved to Stockton. Harold died October 2, 2008. Joan was a faithful member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lewiston and had been involved in church choir and Dorcas Society. She had also belonged to the Lewiston American Legion Auxiliary. Joan enjoyed baking, gardening, canning and camping. Most of all she loved to celebrate with her family and friends. Survivors include her four children; Mike (Linda) Wadewitz of Winona, Dave of Chatfield, Sara (Daryl) Oevering of Stockton and Paula (Steve) Prigge of Rochester, nine grandchildren; Ryan (Kim) Wadewitz, Bret (Katey) Wadewitz, Leah (Corey) Dufault, Rachel Oevering, Ross and Andy Wadewitz, Nick Oevering, Katelyn and Jordon Wadewitz, four great-grandchildren; Rakiya Oevering, Mason, Autumn and Cora Wadewitz, a brother Robert (Bev) Luehmann of Lewiston, a sister Lois (Robert) Wadewitz of Winona, two sisters-in-law, Audrey Luehmann of Lewiston and Myrna Luehmann of Dundas, MN. In addition to her husband Harold, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Lester and Dennis Luehmann and a sister Adeline Lockman. Funeral Services will be 11AM Saturday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lewiston with the Reverends Michael A. Lindemann and M. John Dermé officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 4-8 PM Friday and 10 - 11 AM Saturday. Hoff Funeral Service of Lewiston is assisting the family with arrangements.
