WINONAJoan Marie Rude, 74, of Winona, passed away at her home, Saturday, February 22, 2014, with her daughter at her side.Joan was born in Portage, WI to Edward and Romelle Crawford. In 1956, Joan married James J. Rud. James was killed in 1960 while serving in the United States Air Force; she never remarried.She was employed by Winona's Piggly Wiggly and later at Watkins Inc. Joan was a dedicated member of St. Casimir's Catholic Church where she served with the church quilters and at the church bazaars. She was also an electoral judge for many years. Joan was especially proud of being an active member of the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary-1243 until she became ill with Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease in 2007. She was selected "Eagle of the Year" in 2003 for outstanding dedication and volunteerism associated with the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary-1243, an honor she wore proudly. Joan is survived by her daughter, Joyce Tlougan; and her grandsons, the pride and joys of her life, Joseph and Jacob Tlougan, all of Winona. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 28, 2014 at St. Casimir's Catholic Church in Winona with the Reverend Paul Breza officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, February 27, 2014 at The Hoff Celebration of Life Center in Goodview and additionally one hour prior to mass at the church. The Eagles Ladies Auxiliary-1243 will perform a memorial ceremony at 6:30 p.m., Thursday evening during the visitation. Memorials are preferred to American Cancer Society or the family.
