Johnson, 81, of Grand Rapids, Minn., and formerly of Houston, Minn. died Monday, May 19, 2003, at Itasca Nursing Home. She was born on January 1, 1922, in Badger Valley, Houston County, Minn. to Nels and Sarah Dahle. She attended school in Badger Valley and Houston. She married Alton N. Johnson, on August 10, 1940. She worked for Grasby and Flatt and for Ace Telephone in Houston for 28 years. She was active at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston and the Red Cross. She enjoyed gardening, baking, and sharing her produce and baked goods with loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; brothers: Herman, Arden, Silas and Niles Oliver, and sisters: Pearl and Juel. She is survived by one daughter, Sharon (Bill) Carlson of Bovey, Minn.; grandchildren: Brian (Sarah) Mann of Aurora, Minn., Stacey (Mike) Ahcan of Grand Rapids, Minn., Shari (Chuck) Plante of Ft. Ripley, Minn.; great-grandchildren: Nick, Derek, and Chanelle Snyder, Andrew Clark, Beau and Brady Mann; special nephew and niece, Carl and Judy Solie. Sisters: Evangeline Gorgos of Minneapolis, Minn. and Doris Scavone of Clinton Twsp., Mich.; sisters-in-law: Leah Swenson and Lyla Johnson of Florida, and Shirley Johnson of Idaho; brother-in-law, Lloyd (Mary) Johnson of Nevada; and many cousins nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2003, at the Stone Church in Houston with the Rev. Lane Zaffke officiating. Burial will be at the Stone Church Cemetery.
