Jerry Lee Thatcher
Born February 4, 1934
To: Daisy & Del Thatcher in Nelson, WI
Passed on to his next journey, July 5, 2017 at 83 years old.
Dad grew up on the Mississippi River in Wisconsin. He helped run his family fishing resort and by the age of 7 was taking fishermen to all the fishing hot spots, now known as Thatcher's slough.
Dad served in the Marine Corp during the Korean War and spent 31 days at sea with 10,000 soldiers and never got seasick. He won an award for his marksmanship with a rifle and never wore glasses except to read. He was very proud of his service and said they always send the Marines in first. Semper Fi. He left the Corp in the rank of Corporal.
Dad had his roofing business for over 50 years. He was a hard worker, excellent carpenter and fixer of all things. You didn't buy new if he could fix it. He was the ultimate recycler of his time.
Our dad was a gentle, kind man; a great listener, peacemaker and giver of good advice. His door was always open for coffee and conversation.
He was married to our mom, Bridget (Haley) Thatcher for 56 years until her passing in 2012.
He is survived by, three children, Sherry (Dennis) Russeau, Becky Schulz & Brenden Thatcher; three grandkids, Adrian (Amy), Eve (Tony) and Andy (Emma); five great-grandkids, Andre, Jaiden, Aiden, Alex & Garrett; his sister-in-law, Betty Rick and his little white dog.
We will miss you dad. Your love and wisdom is our heartfelt legacy.
