WINONAJerome Joseph Jandl, 71 of Winona, passed away peacefully with his son by his side on October 26th at St. Anne Extended Health Care.On November 18, 1943 "Jerry / J.J" was born in New Ulm, MN to Leo and Regina Jandl. He was a graduate of Fairfax High School in 1961, and then he enlisted in the National Guard.In 1961, he enrolled at Dunwoody Institute in auto mechanics and upon completion he worked in Northfield, MN until the fall of 1965. While living in Northfield, he met his future wife, Rita Pifer, whom he married in Fairfax, MN, his home town, in 1968. They were blessed with two children, Jeffrey and Tricia. They were later divorcedHe changed careers and attended barber school in St. Paul, MN. He worked as a barber in the Radisson Hotel in downtown Minneapolis and lived in Fridley for a short time before he and his wife moved to Rochester, MN. While employed at the Kaehler Hotel, he met and developed prominent customers from all over the US, who were on business or as patients at the Mayo Clinic, including a U.S. Supreme Court Justice.In 1970, he bought a barber shop in Winona, MN and named it the Golden Chair (service to make you feel like a King), which he owned and operated for over 40 years. Many recall the jokes and stories he shared throughout his life. He was an active member of the Jaycees and the Elks for many years serving as the exalted ruler in 1982.He is survived by his son, Jeffrey, and daughter, Tricia, (Chris Utsch), and grandchildren, Jacob, Emily, Courtney, Alayna, Alivia, and Aylah. He is also survived by his brother, George (Joan), and three sisters Jackie Marketon (Walt), Ginger Rogness (Gary), Kathy Bianchi (Hilly), and brother-in-law Jim Sadler. Also surviving him are several godchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Rose Mary Sadler and Jean Jandl.A private celebration of life was held for immediate family members at Hoff Celebration of Life Center on October 28, 2015.
