Jeanne M. Burke, 79, died at her home on Friday, February 19, 2010, with her family at her side following a nine month battle with cancer. Jeanne was born on October 11, 1930, in Milwaukee, WI, to Fred and Modesta (Michalowski) Scheets. She graduated from Cathedral High School in Winona in 1948 and graduated from College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, MN, in 1951. Jeanne married her college sweetheart, Joseph Timothy Burke, on June 21, 1952, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Winona, MN. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Winona Health for over 28 years. Jeanne served as a nurse educator, nursing supervisor, the Assistant Director of Nursing and the Director of Home Care and Hospice. In her retirement Jeanne continued to serve on numerous boards and committees.Survivors include her husband of 57 years, J. Timothy Burke; her seven children, Kathleen (James) Lanik, T. Sean (Shaune) Burke, Erin Latten, Mary (Andy) Stasic, Brian (Sandra) Burke, Kevin (Amy) Burke and Michael (Jodie) Burke; thirteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her twin sister Jane (Edward) Kohner and family; brothers, Fred (Karen) Scheets Jr. and Bob (Marjorie) Scheets; uncle, John Michalowski; aunt, Jeannie (Patrick) Smith; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter, Virginia Lynn Burke.A Funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday, Feb. 23rd, at 10:00am, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with the Reverend Thomas Hargesheimer officiating. Spring burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Winona. Visitation will be at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service Hansen Goodview Chapel on Monday from 4-8:00pm where there will be a Christian Prayer Service at 7:30pm. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at church on Tuesday.
