St. Charles,
Jean M. (Mauer) Majerus, 93, of St. Charles died Sunday, July 30th at Golden Living Center - St. Charles. Jean was born September 10, 1923 in Elba to Nicholas and Florence (Rinn) Mauer.
She attended Elba Public School and graduated from St. Charles High in 1942. Jean worked in the purchasing department of J.R. Watkins for five years. She married LuVerne Majerus on flag day, June 14th, 1947. They made their home in St. Charles where together, they owned and operated Majerus Standard Station for 30 years. Following her retirement from the Standard Station Jean continued to work part time at June's Clothing store, enjoying working with the public and being known as "friendly Jean". Jean and LuVerne enjoyed; traveling, trips to Mauer's, spending time with family and watching their grandsons play baseball.
Jean is survived by her husband LuVerne, a son and daughter-in-law Glen and Renee Majerus of St. Charles, two grandsons, Landon John and Marshal Louis Majerus, a brother Robert (Adeline) Mauer of Elba and several nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by a brother John Mauer and a grandson Steven.
A Funeral Mass for Jean will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with the Reverend Donald Schmitz officiating. Friends may call at the church from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour before services on Thursday. A reception will follow services before burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery in Elba.
