Jay D. Summers

Rushford, MNJay Donald Summers, 85, died Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at his home in Rushford, MN. Jay was born March 16, 1919 in Money Creek, MN to Jack and Laura Summers. He married Ruth E. Wilcox on May 13, 1944 in Money Creek, MN. Jay farmed on the home farm in Money Creek and was also a police officer in Houston. Jay moved to Rushford where he was the Police Chief in Rushford for 20 years. Jay was also a longtime member of the Masons. Jay will be remembered for his love for his grandchildren, playing cards, visiting and telling stories with people and deer hunting with his Money Creek buddies.Survivors include his wife, Ruth; four children, Laura Summers of England, Michael Summers of Oklahoma City, OK, James (Sharon) Summers of Winona, MN and Guy Summers of LaCrescent, MN; and four grandchildren, Jacob, Zachary, Christopher and Kate Summers. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Melvin, Pete, Florence (Tom) and sisters, Grace, Frances and Pearl. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 6, 2004 at 11:00am at the Rushford Lutheran Church with the Rev. Fauntie Wilcoxon officiating. Burial will be in the Money Creek Cemetery in Money Creek, MN. Friends may call on Sunday at Hoff Funeral Homes ? Rushford Chapel from 4-8:00pm where there will be a Masonic Service at 7:30pm.
