Janice K. Loppnow, 82, of St. Charles, MN, died Thursday, March 14, 2024 at St. Charles Assisted Living & Memory Care.
Janice was born June 10, 1941 in Northfield, MN to Kenneth and Mildred (Heidecker) Heacock. She graduated high school in Northfield, and from Winona State University with an Elementary Education degree. Janice married David Nienow in 1960, later divorced. They lived in Northfield and Red Wing, before settling in St. Charles. Janice proudly taught for 36 years, prior to her retirement. Having taught for many of those years in St. Charles, she had the privilege of teaching some of her former students’ children. In 1991, she married Vernon Loppnow, of St. Charles. After retiring from teaching, she continued working with a local Pioneer Seed dealership.
Janice enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the cabin, playing bridge, coffee outings, and helping others in the community.
Janice is survived by her five children: Leah (Morris) Holst of Amery, WI, Naomi Nienow of Rochester, Mark Nienow of Toledo, OH, Michael (Wanda) Nienow of Rochester, and Paul (Charlotte) Nienow of the Marshall Islands. Twelve grand children: John (Adriana) Holst, Kimberly (Joseph) Holst Mercord, Jeff (Laura) Holst, Andrew (Ashley) Nienow, Grace (Steven) Rysted, Matthew Nienow, Caity (Josh) Nienow-Deutsch, Zachary (Stephanie) Nienow, Makayla Nienow, Victoria Nienow, Maddy Nienow, and Maxwell Nienow. Nine great-grandchildren. Four siblings: Kathie (Wes) Mittelsteadt, Ann Long, Beth (Mike) Blake, Ken Heacock. Sister-in-law: Maxine Simmons. Brother-in- laws: Bernard Loppnow and William Loppnow.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two siblings, and other family members.
Visitation Friday March 22, 2024 from 4-7 at Hoff Funeral Service in St. Charles. A service will be at Berea Moravian Church in St. Charles on March 23, 2024 at 11am officiated by Jodi Heim. Visitation one hour prior in the church hall.
