Janet Hackbarth, 63, of Utica died Monday, February 20th at her home. Janet was born September 5, 1953 in Winona to David and Eloise (Kieselhorst) Sumner. She graduated from Winona High in 1971. Janet worked for Kmart and Freedom Gas in Winona and for Kwik Trip in Lewiston. On September 22, 1990 Janet and Steve Hackbarth were married. In 1995 they moved to their farm south of Utica. Janet enjoyed cross stitch and reading. Most of all she loved to work with and raise their many pets and livestock. She was a kind person, who cared about people. She was not one to talk about her self and was quick to forgive.
She is survived by her husband and best friend Steve, also by a very close cousin, Mary Hadland. Janet was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Larry Sumner.
There will be a prayer service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hoff Funeral Service in St. Charles with the Reverend Glen Frerichs officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in St. Charles.
