James Peter Hoffman, 90 of Rollingstone, died peacefully, Thursday, February 14, 2013 at St. Anne Extended Healthcare in Winona. Jim was born August 11, 1922 in Rollingstone to Joseph and Josephine (Kalmes) Hoffman. He graduated from Holy Trinity School and on June 7, 1947 he married Jeanne Guidinger in Winona. Jim and Jeanne farmed on the family farm their entire lives, which is now a century farm, owned by their son. Jim was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Rollingstone, St. Nicholaus Society and a lifelong member of the Elks.Jim enjoyed vegetable gardening, card playing with family and friends and would often babysit his grandchildren. All his grandchildren have many fond stories of their times with Grandpa and will always remember him as being a special grandpa!Jim is survived by one brother, Francis (Theresa) Hoffman; six children, Ruth (Richard) Hein of Madison, WI, Bill (Donna) Hoffman of Minnesota City, Joni Dailey of Dixon, IL, Lori (Kurt) Goetzman of Rochester, Kathy (Dan) Buchholz of LaCrescent, Judi (Duane) Adelman of Lakeville; 9 grandchildren, Elise, Serena, Andy, Joey, Ashley, Dustin, Dylan, Shelby and Amber; 2 great-grandchildren, Cole and Cael and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne in 2003 and a sister, Delores.Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m., Monday, February 18 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with the Reverend William Kulas officiating. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m., Sunday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery.Dad/Grandpa, you worked the soil in the garden and on the farm.
