Dover, James Phillip "Jim" Dolan, 82, of Dover died Sunday October 24th on his farm in rural Dover. Jim was born June 3, 1922 in Danvers, MN, to Terrance P. and Ella Frances (Washburn) Dolan. He served in the Army Air Corp during WWII. On February 5, 1948, Jim and Barbara Peerboom were married at the Church of the Visitation at Danvers. The couple farmed at Danvers for 10 years before moving to Albuquerque, NM. In Albuquerque, he worked for American Car and Foundry, a subcontractor for the Atomic Energy Commission. In 1962 they moved to Rochester where he worked as a sheet metal worker until his retirement in 1990. In 1980 they moved to a farm south of Dover. Jim enjoyed many hobbies; his first love was harness horse racing. He raised horses and sheep, and was also an apple grower, while finding time to fish and to hunt turkeys. Jim belonged to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, the St. Charles American Legion and Sheet Metal Workers Union Local #10. Survivors include his wife Barbara, seven children, Lawrence (Patricia) Dolan of LaCrosse; Mary Kathryn (Donald) Blake of Wilmington, NC; Laureen (Michael) Larrison of Waupaca, WI; James Phillip (Kathryn) Dolan, Jr. of Dover; Barbara Jo (John) Minge of Perham, MN; Lisbeth Anne (Robert) Woodward Roanoke, VA and Bridget Kathleen (Dustin Beltram) Dolan of San Jose, CA, 16 grandchildren (a 17th arriving soon), one great-granddaughter and a brother Arthur P. Dolan of River Falls, WI. A son Kevin Patrick Dolan, five brothers, four sisters and his parents preceded him in death. A Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM Thursday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with the Rev. James Callahan officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Rochester. The St. Charles American Legion will conduct Military Graveside Honors. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Wednesday and 9-10 Thursday at Hoff Funeral Home's St. Charles Chapel. There will be a Rosary recited at 4:30PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
